Scott Sanders is a lightning rod for unusual events.
Scott has been kidnapped two times – once in China and a second time in the former Yugoslavia; he was arrested during a violent coup in West Africa; he once cradled Bob Dylan’s head in his lap in a NYC checker taxicab; the song You Light Up My Life was written for his ex-girlfriend- by the guy she left him for! He gave up acting when his dog became an acting superstar, had the best time of his life while on chemo and… oh yeah…
Scott has literally been struck by lightning.
Scott is an ex-actor and ex-New Yorker who moved to the left coast 20 years ago and is still wrestling with cross-cultural challenges. He keeps a note on his desk from Gary Shteyngart that reads, “Scott, keep up the pessimism.”
Scott has won over audiences in a variety of settings, including multiple Moth Grandslams, multiple Moth Mainstage Events, and storytelling and comedy venues throughout San Francisco, Oakland, New York, Los Angeles and now Portland. You also may have heard him on the radio: He has been a regular contributor to NPR’s wildly popular Snap Judgment.
In 2019 and 2020, Scott produced and directed BASH – Bay Area Storytelling Hijacked – a series of curated storytelling events with live music, video and sound design presented at Shotgun Players Theater in Berkeley, California.
The secrets inside of us emerge in the telling of our tales, and, we all have stories to tell.
